Hard Chill for Last Day on Bora Bora

We were able to acquire another croissant and two pieces of French bread from the breakfast this morning. These would serve us well around lunchtime. It was a bit overcast today, and the few times the sun made an appearance, it was through a haze. We tried not to let this dampen our spirits, however. We took another walk around the property before relaxing back at our bungalow for some time.

It rained off and on throughout the morning, and Nicole did some more reading while I worked on my Japanese. And to those wondering why I’m so focused on Japanese these days, you never know when you might need to emigrate to Japan on a moment’s notice. It’s best to play it safe.

In the afternoon, we continued to lounge. I looked in the direction of the mountains of the main island and decided it might be interesting to get a time lapse of the clouds moving around it. This, if you recall, required some literal legwork.

When I got back, I was a bit sweaty, so I decided to jump into the water by our bungalow. I swam toward the beach and back, encountering a new area of reef with some new fish — such as this angelfish.

After I dried off a little bit, we decided to take out some Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP). As the property consists of a lot of boardwalks leading to overwater bungalows, this was SUP with a few extra challenges. We had to duck under walkways while maintaining our balance on the boards.

Afterward, we went back to our humble bungalow to relax, shower, and ready ourselves for dinner. I wore buttons! I also made a phone call to the place we are staying at tomorrow night, and confirmed with them what time we needed the boat to pick us up from the airport — all of this in French. So right now, I’m feeling pretty fancy, thank you very much.

We went back to the Banyan Restaurant, which serves Asian-inspired food. The options are a bit limited here, and I think we’ve kind of been tapped out of room service options. I understand it’s a luxury hotel and all, but a place to just quickly grab a snack or beverage could go a long way.

After another overpriced meal, we walked back to our bungalow for the last time to organize our things for our departure tomorrow morning. It is expected to thunderstorm all night, so perhaps we will go to sleep to the sounds of rain hitting the roof and the palm trees blowing violently around us. A demain.
